Our Vision at Cherub's Inn
To bring potential to life, building an empowered, strong, supportive, and healthy community—serving one mother, one child, and one family at a time.
Through these branches, we work to relieve poverty, enhance health and well-being, reduce the number of children entering foster care, and strengthen and support the family unit.
Our purpose is to provide a safe place and a loving start for vulnerable mothers and their children through our three interconnected branches—the Maternity House, Daycare Centre, and Infant Care Nursery—which work together to offer compassionate, wraparound support.
By walking alongside families with care, encouragement, and practical support, we help create the stability and opportunities needed for lasting positive change.

Corine's Story
I was 18, he was 36. It started out as a carefree relationship. A few short months after dating, I found out I was pregnant.
I was terrified. I was 18 and moved out and my parents didn't even know I was dating let alone being intimate with someone.bFear gripped me, as I looked to him for help with this decision. He would play devil's advocate but really he was only advocating for not going through with this pregnancy.
In a moment all the morals that were instilled in me since I was little came flooding in. I couldn't believe I was even considering terminating my pregnancy. I have never felt so alone in my life as I did in that moment. During the procedure I remember thinking, I wish my mom was here.
A few months later, I was in the same predicament. Positive again. How did I get here again?
One night I was watching Tyler Perry's Diary of a Mad Black Woman. There was a scene where the mother tells the daughter "You will survive this; look at all that you survived before." In that moment I knew I was going to keep the baby. After the movie ended I prayed. I said, "Lord I am going to keep this baby, but I have 10 cents in the bank right now. So you need to provide for this baby. I need you."
Looking back, that moment in time when I was able to go back to my parents house, it really got me on solid ground. It's the reason I am the person I am today and the reason why the story ends differently than it could have.
Without that option, I would have stayed in a relationship out of necessity and not love. And no one should have to make that choice.
What I had, a safe place to land in a troubled time, shouldn't be a lucky thing or a privileged thing. Everyone deserves a place where they can get love and support for themselves and their little one as they figure out what's next.
I love encouraging moms that they are enough.
I love seeing them be all that they can be, including someone who can dream their dreams and attain them.
Cherub's Inn has been one of my dreams and it came out of a place of gratitude; I want every woman who finds herself in an unplanned pregnancy to have one of her options be a safe place to gather herself and get as prepared as possible for the journey ahead.
Cherub's Inn Story
Every organization has a story. Ours began with a simple belief: that no mother should face motherhood alone. Watch how Cherub's Inn grew from that belief into a home for mothers, a place for children, and a community built on hope.
Sharlene Brooks, Founder of Cherub's Inn
Sharlene was raised in a single parent home, watching her mom work tirelessly to provide for her and her sister, both physically and emotionally, while doing her best to make ends meet. From a young age, Sharlene was taught to be honest, hardworking, and committed, and to give her best in whatever she did. As a girl, she was known as tenacious, compassionate, and driven.
Along the way, Sharlene was given gifts that shaped her. Loving grandparents who were a steady, bright presence in her life. A growing faith and relationship with God. And the chance to attend a Christian high school, where she built lifelong friendships and met teachers who left a lasting impact on her.
From as early as she can remember, Sharlene wanted to help people and protect those who couldn't protect themselves, so she set her sights on becoming a police officer. The path there was not a straight line. She met her husband Tom in her mid-teens, and while studying Criminology at Kwantlen University, the two got engaged and soon after found out they were expecting their first child. They married shortly after, all before Sharlene turned twenty.
Two more children followed, and the early years of marriage and parenthood were hard, but she and Tom grew closer through the challenges and faced them together. After her children were born, Sharlene pursued her longtime goal of becoming a police officer, achieving it in 1997 and going on to enjoy a full and diverse policing career while raising her family.
The seeds of Cherub's Inn were sown long before it became a reality, planted by Sharlene's own upbringing and her deep desire to support and protect others. But between her career and raising three children, that vision stayed tucked away until her kids were grown and she retired.
It was reignited when her daughter Corine became a single teen mom. Sharlene and her husband, along with their two sons, walked alongside Corine through that season, opening their home and offering support.
Corine always knew the door back home was open to her.
Sharlene realized that for many young moms, it isn't, and that realization became Cherub's Inn.

Sharlene Brooks, Executive Director
Sharlene Brooks is the founder and Executive Director of Cherub’s Inn. Before retiring, she served as a police officer with the Delta Police Department, where she gained valuable leadership and community-service experience. Her personal experiences helped inspire her vision to create a safe and supportive place for young moms and their little ones. Sharlene is passionate about helping families find stability, encouragement, and hope for the future.
Faith Allen,
Administrative Assistant
Faith has supported the administrative and communications work at Cherub’s Inn for the past three years. She assists with social media, donor communications, events, and day-to-day office tasks. Faith is currently completing the final year of her Bachelor’s degree in Non-Profit Leadership and enjoys helping share the mission of Cherub’s Inn.
Sarah Greencorn, Daycare Manager
Sarah has had the honor and pleasure of managing Cherub’s Inn Daycare for over three years and has Together with her husband, Sarah has two beautiful teenage daughters. Their family began fostering children approximately 14 years ago and has since welcomed more than 50 children into their home and lives. Sarah lives her life in community with her family, church family, and the families they support through fostering, with Jesus at the center of all they do and all glory given to God.
